A LITTLE PIECE OF ME

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME AND WHO I AM.

Well this is the blog to read.  It’s a big no no in the marketing world as it provides no value to my “ideal client” but its my first blog and I am SUPER excited to be here.

So duck your head coz I am going all SHOUTY CAPITALS on this one!

“ITS HERE, THE WEBSITE AND REBRANDING ARE FINALLY HERE!” The new fandango Bianca Woolhouse Photography previously known as Avant Garde Studio is ready.

Phew I feel awesome to shout that out coz this has been a labour of love for a long, long 12 months, working late at night researching, writing, working on images, photographing clients in between and of course looking after a 3 foot human being whose idea of fun is to climb everything!!

So here is a recap of me and my life.  Please stay with me to the end.

I ACTUALLY STUDIED PHOTOGRAPHY
After school I was accepted into TAFE and 3 years later completed my Advanced Diploma of Applied Science in Photography. A long title for Photographer.

I WORKED SUPER HARD WITH OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS TO SOAK IN THEIR TALENTS
I worked for the pros! My first photography job was as an assistant to a renowned, business savvy, creative women; Robyn Cusack. She taught me sooo much but her biggest message was to be confident and believe in what you do and who you are.  Thanks Rob 🙂

My next adventure was a little scary and a lot crazy with Trevor Goldmsith and Robert Alla we formed a portrait studio in East Perth called Image Portrait Studio. It was amazing but I was 21 and well it was big shoes to fill and my feet were getting itchy.

IT WAS TIME FOR THE WORLD AND I TO MEET
So my partner and I (who upgraded to hubby 6 years ago) set off on a journey like non other. On our journey we were shot at (like gun bang bang!), we climbed mountains, we partied, we met fellow travellers, we saw landscapes that you can only dream about, we swam in mud, we swam in oceans, we traveled back to a time in ancient history, we observed and immersed ourselves in so many different cultures and most importantly we lived.  For 3 crazy years we did it ALL.  Including living in the UK with a house full of kiwis & aussies – 13 to be exact! Yep crowded and rowdy haha

Here are some photos to give those eyes a rest

HI HO HI HO ITS WAS BACK TO PERTH WE GO
Home was calling and in 2009 returned to Perth. After jumping off a plane I had an interview with Miller Portrait Studio as a photographer and well got the job! My time at Millers was short as our next adventure was right around the corner.

In 2011 my FIFO partner suggested we move to Newman, WA.   (To the middle of the West Australian desert!!!! Google it and check out that teeny tiny place). It took A LOT of selling of the idea but I eventually surrendered.

I STARTED TO LOVE THE UNIQUENESS LIVING IN A REMOTE TOWN
We spent 5 years in Newman and some times it was really tough especially planning a wedding in the South West of WA and undergoing fertility treatments. But the people who live in towns like these are like none other. They became my second family and some of the most important friendships I will ever have.

On a professional note my business boomed! In a small town there aren’t many professional photographers, so once I started to get clients my professionalism and work stood out. One of my greatest accomplishments was photographing two large-scale landscape commission for both BHP Billiton main mine sites in Newman; Eastern Ridge and Mt Whaleback along with an exhibition of the work for the local community. Whoohoo

The beauty of the landscape ignited my passion for outdoor photography and I had the pleasure photographing many families who felt just as connected to their Pilbara journey as I did.

AND DRUM ROLL PLEASE COZ YOU REACHED THE END
So how could I forget to mention…all those years of fertility treatments resulted in a perfect little human who I am sometimes at a loss to describe how much he means to me and my husband but if you are a parent you totally get it.

We now live happily ever after in Perth, me running my little business, hubby – has his eyes on something bigger and our son, well he’s 2 let’s just say his world consists of daily adventures and I am just happy to capture and enjoy every moment.

Thank you for joining me down memory lane – see you when I get around to writing the next one xo
